The can of Pepsi briefly visible in The Empire Strikes Back (during the attack on Hoth) was deliberately planted on set by a disgruntled technician.

I think I heard about this in grade school.. but didn't they find it and edit it out? Anyway, I'm sure they did for the re-releases a few years ago, which is all I have on DVD.
Still, where was it in the original? Post a framegrab or something, people!

A friend of mine worked in LucasFilm's accounting department in the 90s and told me that the employee who put the Pepsi can on set was subsequently fired after they discovered that he had a deal with Pepsi to get paid to subliminally promote them. He swore there was a memo from Lucas to the head of HR and Accounting to be sure that they were not liable.
